Recognised internationally thanks to his nomination as Unesco Artist for Peace in 2005, Twins Seven Seven expressed his innate talent for drawing in pictorial works on canvases and in large panels that convey the energy and spirituality of the Yorùbá culture. He radically opposed the dominant homologation of the international art scene, promoting both in Nigeria and in the USA – where he relocated in the 1980s – the symbolism of tribal rites and animist religions through colours, shapes and iconographies captured in works of extraordinary aesthetic rendering.
