VERA MOLNÁR

BORN 1924, Budapest, Hungary
LIVES&WORKS Paris, France

A true pioneer of computer art since 1968, when she taught herself FORTRAN to programme an algorithm that rendered one of the earliest examples of digitally-created pattern design. Graphical experimentation with the simplest geometrical shapes earned Molnár a place in the Gotha of the optical art movement. Digital art from the 1970s and 1980s will complement the Biennale’s discourse on the relationship between man and machine.
