On 11 January 2025 the ninth concert season of Musikàmera, an association that has been promoting and spreading knowledge of chamber music in Venice since 2016, will begin. “The season – underlines the president of Musikàmera, Sonia Guetta Finzi – will offer our audience a very high quality and richly evocative programme”, covering a wide and articulated chronological span and stylistic panorama. Opening the event on 11 January is a florilegium of Venetian music from the 17th and 18th centuries, entitled All’ombra della Serenissima (In the Shadow of the Serenissima), and carefully researched thanks to the advice of Prof. Franco Rossi; interpreting the selection, which includes pieces of rare refinement, will be the American mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux, accompanied by Francesco Galligioni on cello and Roberto Loreggian on harpsichord. The evening, which will be repeated the following day, will open with the aria Credi, o caro, alla speranza by the ‘dear Saxon’ Johann Adolf Hasse, former chapel master in Dresden, but for the rest of his life bound to Venice, his wife’s hometown, where he spent most of his life; the programme then includes sonatas by the ‘buranello’ Baldassare Galuppi and Benedetto Marcello, and a selection of madrigals by Barbara Strozzi, Antonio Vivaldi and Benedetto Ferrari.
