The homage that Asolo Musica a Lo Squero continues by the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, a concert series on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore scheduled until December 17, dedicates to the Belgian composer César Franck in the year in which the bicentenary of his birth occurs . On November 26, space for a concert that brings together illustrious talents for the occasion, with extraordinary technical and expressive ability: Marco Rizzi on the violin, Gabriele Carcano on the piano and the Quartetto di Venezia.
The concert will be opened by the String Quartet in D major by César Franck, president of the Société Nationale de Musique since 1886 and a reference figure for an important group of composers, including Vincent d’Indy, Henri Duparc and Ernest Chausson. Chausson’s Concerto in D major op. 21 for violin, piano and string quartet, piece in four movements composed between 1889 and 1891, a score that reveals a particular nobility of thought and an elegant refined taste. Chausson too, like Franck, adopts the cyclical form, with material that is elaborated in the first movements and reprized in the last, in search of a musical aestheticism beyond the limits imposed by the classical style. Among the pieces by Franck and Chausson, the lineup also includes Augusta’s company for violin, piano and string quartet by Curt Cacioppo, American composer, born in 1951, who has been collaborating with the Quartetto di Venezia for years and with whom he made the album Chorus, nominated for a Grammy in 2014.
