Alexander Gadjiev is an internationally renowned pianist who has performed several times in Venice. Two factors have profoundly influenced his musical training: on the one hand, his family, consisting of musician parents and piano teachers; on the other, the culture of Central Europe and the city where he was born and grew up, namely the Italian-Slovenian border town of Gorizia, a meeting point of peoples, languages and cultures. In the double concert on 27 and 28 May he offers the audience a repertoire including Debussy and Corigliano, Bartòk, Schumann and Rachmaninov. Alexander Gadjiev is the 2021 winner of the Second Prize and the Krystian Zimerman Special Prize at the Warsaw International “Chopin” Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious international piano competitions. This is the best result ever for an Italian competitor, surpassed only by Maurizio Pollini who won first prize in 1960. He is also the winner of the 42nd Abbiati Prize as best soloist for the year 2022.
