Carmen Souza was born in Lisbon from Cape Verdean parents. She was brought up with the sounds and traditions of her islands and an admiration for the Gotha of jazz: Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarret, Diana Krall. Since the beginning of her musical career, she demonstrated her ability to author, record, and stage her perfectly balanced world jazz formula anywhere in the world. An award-winning singer-songwriter and instrumentalist, Carmen Souza has been touring the world since 2005 with her musical partner Theo Pascal. Concert after concert, her fame grew and is now one of the most requested jazz performers in Europe. She will play at Squero Auditorium in San Giorgio Island in Venice on July 6.
