Alfonso Caiani conducts Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro La Fenice in the penultimate performance of the Teatro La Fenice Foundation’s Symphonic Season 2023-2024. On Saturday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. (S round), and in repetition – non-subscription – on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m., the Venetian ensembles led by the maestro of the Teatro La Fenice Chorus will perform Arthur Honegger’s three-part psalm Le Roi David, which will be performed in its original 1921 version. Thus the program, which originally included a performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina burana, will vary. The concert will be dedicated to the memory of Giampaolo Vianello, five years after his death: Vianello was superintendent of La Fenice from 2001 to 2010, and a protagonist in the delicate years of the Venetian theater’s reconstruction after the 1996 fire.
