Viennese conductor Christian Arming (b. 1971) will work with the resident orchestra at Venice’s Fenice Theatre on January 5 for a concert programme that includes the liveliness of Johann Strauss’s waltzes and polkas and the refinement of Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier. From the bubbling notes in the Flittermouse to the enchanted atmosphere of the Kaiser-Walzer to the excess of the Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, the night homages Middle-Europe musical tradition, splendour, and immortal melodies.
