The South Korean conductor is the protagonist of a concert in which Verdi takes centre stage, specifically with the Messa da Requiem for soloists, choir and orchestra, a sacred composition for choir, solo voices and orchestra, which the composer dedicated to Alessandro Manzoni and which expresses all the anguish and bewilderment of man in the face of death.
Together with soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Annalisa Stroppa, tenor Fabio Sartori and bass Riccardo Zanellato Chung accompanies us through the folds of a masterpiece of classical music offered by the musician to the city of Milan and whose first performance took place in the Church of San Marco, Milan, on 22 May 1874. The mass was conducted by Verdi himself, and the four solo parts were: Teresa Stolz (soprano); Maria Waldmann (mezzo-soprano); Giuseppe Capponi (tenor); Ormondo Maini (bass). The performance was a great success and the fame of the Mass quickly crossed national borders.
