The Carnival programme at Fenice Theatre lists alternated performances of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Puccini’s La bohème – two operas the public loves. Leave plenty of time on February 11, not only for the Barber, but for a drink at the theatre. What a great chance to wear a sophisticated Venetian mask, and how cool will it be to chill out at the DJ-set in full eighteenth-century apparel? Back to opera, now! Director Bepi Morassi, scenery and costumes by Lauro Crisman, conduction by Renato Palumbo. You know the story. Protagonist Rosina would love to marry Count Almaviva, but her guardian, Don Bartolo, is fiercely against it. The only ally the two lovers is the barber, Figaro, who will untie the knots of a tangled plot using nothing but comb, scissors, and his savvy.
