A pianist with excellent jazz technique and expertise, enabling him to express himself fully in any context, Hays is also a master in the art of creating special resonances, thanks to his talent for developing new voicings during his harmonic re-inventions, as well as his ability to create an enveloping and changing sound, made up of several rhythmic harmonic layers that he superimposes and rearranges, always aiming this great technical knowledge towards an outcome of complete artistic expressiveness that is essential and involving. This trio sees Hays alongside two musicians like himself at the top of their respective instruments and equally present for years in numerous expressive contexts at the highest levels of the world jazz scene, such as Thomas Morgan on double bass, who has already played alongside Bill Frisell among others, and Jeff Ballard on drums, one of the living legends of modern jazz drumming, who, after his beginnings alongside Chick Corea, has made his own unmistakable contribution to several formidable groups over the last two decades, including the Fly trio and the ensembles of Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau.
