Premiere screening in Venice of the documentary film Afghanistan: traces of a scarred culture Directed by Alberto Castellani (60′, 2022).
Afghanistan risks losing its identity and the awareness of having its own history. Archaeology, with its sometimes inexhaustible ability to discover and reconstruct the past, can provide a valuable contribution to the rebirth of the Afghan people. The film made by the Venetian director and producer Alberto Castellani wants to remember the main figures of scholars who, during the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st, have dedicated themselves to reconstructing the most distant Afghan artistic events. To accompany the public on this journey, we have made use of the collaboration of the “Guimet” Museum of Asian Arts in Paris, the Museum of Civilizations and Oriental Art in Rome, the Archaeological Museum of Kabul and ISMEO in Rome.
The director Alberto Castellani introduces the themes of the film together with Francesca Grisot of the Department of Comparative Linguistic Studies of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
