The eighth Musikàmera Season continues at the Sale Apollinee of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice with a double recital by a star sextet, consisting of Alexander Lonquich on piano and his son Tommaso Lonquich on clarinet, Ilya Gringolts on violin, Enrico Bronzi on cello, Irena Kavčič on flute and Mojca Erdmann as narrator. The programme opens with Siciliana and Burlesca op. 23 bis for violin, cello and piano composed in 1917 by Alfredo Casella, where Siciliana has a new flavour due to the dense chromatic harmonies of dissonant chords, ghostly as fades, while Burlesca takes the more familiar Casella back to the composer, with the clear humorous profile of his popular motifs. Sonata No. 1 for cello and piano L 144 belongs to the piano and chamber compositions written by Claude Debussy in the last years of his life, in Paris, in which the musician’s effort towards a more austere art, more devoid of immediate seductions, but equally rich in ideas and inspiration, in the context of a classicist tension, is felt.
