The visionary South African composer, pianist, and improv musician Nduduzo Makhathini presents In the Spirit of Ntu, his tenth studio album. Original music of arcane beauty reflects the tenets of poetry that mixes modern mysticism and ancestral tradition. A key figure in the vibrant South African jazz scene, Makhathini has the best of the younger generation of his country’s musicians play with him. At the December 9 concert at Genice, part of the Venezia Jazz Festival – Fall Edition, we will find non-conventional jazz: the concept of Ntu refers to the Unity of Being, a mindset where every individual is communal with Nature and integral part of cosmic reality.
