In the fourth part of Icontri (Dance & Drawing), Gabriel Schmitz will be joined by two creators, the dancer/multimedia artist Megumi Eda and the sound artist/composer Reiko Yamada. They will take improvisation to another level as there is no preconceived fixed structure to what the audience will witness. The three elements (sound, dance and drawing) will intertwine and influence each other and undoubtedly leave a trace both on the paper the artist uses for his large scale charcoal drawings and in the spectator’s memory.
ABOUT GABRIEL SCHMITZ
Gabriel Schmitz is a German figurative painter who lives and works in Barcelona, Spain. His interest lies in the human figure both in its physical presence and in its psychological depth. In recent years he has worked in the field of contemporary dance, taking up the challenge of capturing movement on a two-dimensional surface. He collaborates with dancers and explores the limits of the act of drawing in live performances.
