Three latest-generation musicians, all from Siena Jazz, the academy where they received their musical training and where they developed their mutual artistic affinities, form the Santimone Trio. For Santimone, the dimension of the classical piano trio is the most congenial for expressing his vocation for contemporary jazz with a clear post-bop matrix, which is expressed through a repertoire mainly composed of original pieces and the reinterpretation of standards from the overseas jazz tradition, all with a modern slant in which the aesthetic influences of Brazilian musical culture are highlighted.
With their roots firmly planted in the knowledge and respect of tradition and their antennae pointed towards the international contemporary scene, Treetops are the interpreters of an instrumental research that plays with lightness, awareness and fun with funk, jazz, rock, written music and improvisation. Lots of groove, precise technique, surprising improvisations for this septet of very young Roman ‘lions’, among the most promising talents of the capital’s new music scene. But rather than trying to define them for what they are, it would be better to rely on your ears and the pleasure of listening and lose yourself in the original musical trajectories of this gritty and unstoppable ensemble that will infect you and make you enjoy their music.
