The Writers in Conversation cycle, organized by the Ca ‘Foscari University of Venice, starts again with a rich autumn program, an important occasion, connected to the Incroci di civilization literary festival, to converse informally and face to face with writers, translators, journalists, artists, and to reflect with them on the great social and cultural issues of our time. From Thursday 15 September, the student community and the city will have the opportunity to meet the protagonists of the contemporary literary scene. The cycle will be opened by the Israeli writer Roy Chen, on Thursday 15 September at 6 pm, in Tesa 2 at Ca ‘Foscari Zattere. To converse with him prof. Dario Miccoli, expert in Jewish literature. The meeting will be held in Italian. Born in Tel Aviv in 1980, Roy Chen is a writer, translator and playwright. The paternal family arrived in Palestine in 1492 following the expulsion from Spain, the maternal family from Morocco in the twentieth century. In his youth, as part of a personal identity revolt, Roy Chen left school learning Russian on his own. Over the years, he has become a translator of classical literature from Russian to Hebrew. He translated Pushkin, Gogol ‘, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Bunin, Charms and many others. At the age of nineteen he started working in the theater. Since 2007 he has become the permanent playwright of the Gesher Theater, one of the most important theaters in Israel. Anime (2022, Giuntina Publishing House) is his first novel published in Italy.
