Photographer Thandiwe Muriu was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. Drawing inspiration from African textiles, everyday objects, and traditional hairstyles, Thandiwe reinterprets contemporary African portraiture. Using vivid aesthetic, the artist embarks on a colourful journey through her world as a modern African woman. Hassan Hajjaj was born in 1961 in Larache, Morocco. He now lives and works between Marrakech and London. Hajjaj’s evolution as an artist spanned over photography, fashion, music, cinema, and design. His work is a form of cele- bration of the popular visual culture of the souk – a social space and a symbol of interaction and exchange. The artist assembles and opposes eastern and western elements to create a ‘universal universe’.Derrick Ofosu Boateng’s works are emblematic. He carries out important touch-up work on his photographs in terms of color and contrast, so much so that images look almost unreal and dreamlike. His works represents an Africa from a positive perspective and contributes greatly to change its perception abroad.Opening: 6 September h. 18-21
