America has been a great testing ground for Afro Basaldella, one of the great protagonists of Italian painting of the second half of the twentieth century, and gave him the opportunity to meet members of the New York school, including Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Arshile Gorky. With forty-five masterpieces from collections and museums around the world, the show pays homage to an artist who is well represented in the collections of Ca’ Pesaro, exploring the relationship that developed in the 50s between Italian art and American abstract expressionism and action painting.
