Caroline Dantheny’s erratic journey paints an archipelago that covers infinite distances and, by means of the pictorial gesture, makes one of experiences that are only apparently unrelated. For over twenty years, the artist has been exploring India. In 2011, she spent five years in Chennai with maestro Jean- François Lesage and Vastrakala embroiderers. In 2019, Dantheny crossed the ocean to visit Sicily. Then, she left again for Venice, where she spent the pandemic years. As she travels and explores, Dantheny frees herself from the excess to find an intimate, essential dimension whose cathartic potential flows out into her art.
