Venetian artist Edmondo Bacci (1913–1978) was one of the few Italian artists to achieve widespread success during his lifetime and exhibit in major Italian and international galleries and museums. The sheer force and quality of his work drew the attention of critics and collectors, including Peggy Guggenheim, who were active in Venice’s vibrant cultural scene in the 1950s. Bacci was one of the finest representatives of Venetian art, together with, among others, Tancredi Parmeggiani and Emilio Vedova who during the same period achieved international success and acclaim.
