Palazzo Priuli Manfrin’s architecture is unique in Venice: an imposing, bare façade looks like a prototype of Rationalism. Acquired in 1788 by count Girolamo Manfrin, the palazzo was soon to become the house of his incredible collection of art, including Giorgione’s Old Woman and The Tempest, which now are kept at Gallerie dell’Accademia. Chosen by Anish Kapoor as the site for his new foundation, the Palazzo opens its doors with a large retrospective on Kapoor housed at Gallerie dell’Accademia – an interesting correspondence between the two, between past and present, and ancient and modern art.
