The title is adopted from a sentence in Han Kang’s Human Acts and questions how historic memories can be preserved. The exhibition explores the community’s intention to elevate above memories that still hurt and feelings of anxiety caused by tragedy to walk towards a better future. Three sections: one dedicated to the spiritual heritage of the Gwangju Uprising democratisation movement, one on the stories, memories, trauma, and spirit of the city, one on modern activism.
