A large exhibition dedicated to artist Hermann Nitsch, centred on 20. Malaktion, i.e. the twentieth ‘pictorial event’ originally created and presented by Nitsch at the Wiener Secession in Vienna in 1987. This impressive painting action comprises 52 pieces, including the largest the artist ever created at about 20 metres in length. 20. Malaktion shows the continuous, unstoppable research conducted by the Austrian artist toward the fragile, blurred borders of freedom: an indistinct mix of sacred and profane, of real and symbolic, of uncontainable fury and delicate gestures.
