His playful, powerful art reveals, if you look deep into it, the peculiar background behind its creation. Navin Rawanchaikul (Chiang Mai, 1971) once participated in the 2011 Art Biennale with Navinland, the project at the Thai Pavilion. Rawanchaikul is back in Venice following an invitation extended by Swatch, who commissioned a site-specific art project at Giardini for Biennale Faces 2022. The impact of globalization, migration, tension between society and individual, and the development of cultural identities are aspects of modern society that Rawanchaikul investigates in his art and elaborates in their aesthetical dimension using different media.
