Asteroide Amor turns into a festival, featuring an all-female programme
by Redazione VeNews

With the 2024 edition, the third season of the theater series Asteroide Amor, created by the Fondazione di Venezia and born from the Giovani a Teatro project, evolves into a new format and becomes the AA@FEM festival.

Curated by Susanne Franco, Rector’s Delegate for Theater Activities at Ca’ Foscari, and Annalisa Sacchi, Director of the Theater and Performing Arts program at IUAV, AA@FEM addresses urgent themes such as gender-based violence, the role of art as a tool for awareness, and practices of inclusion and female empowerment. From November 28 to December 14, AA@FEM unfolds across various venues, including Teatro Ca’ Foscari in Santa Marta, Teatro Goldoni, M9 – Museo del ’900, Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi, and Spazio Punch in Giudecca. Each location becomes an integral part of a journey combining art with social commitment, offering an all-female program featuring directors, performers, choreographers, and actresses who explore contemporary complexities through innovative and interdisciplinary languages. The festival includes performances, workshops for students, and a reflection on the cultural and symbolic legacy of Eleonora Duse on the centenary of her death—a central figure in theater history and a source of inspiration for this edition. AA@FEM aims to raise awareness among younger generations about critical social issues, using theater as a means to foster understanding and establish prevention and dialogue practices.
