The Latin term terra ignota indicated, in ancient cartography, territories that were yet to be discovered. In two words, the limits of our knowledge and man’s desire to go beyond those limits. For a long time, the term hadn’t been used. Today, though, it proves useful for unidentified areas in planets and satellites around the solar system. The three artists of the Cuban project implicitly ask the public: is it more important to discover new territories to conquer beyond our physical capabilities, or to find new ways to live in harmony with people and nature?
