Zsófia Keresztes’ exhibition starts with Schopenhauer and his Hedgehog’s dilemma, which says that the more two living beings get close to one another, the more are the risks that they inadvertently hurt each other, physically and otherwise. Using sculpture, the artist shows the confusion of humanity as it tries to trust and walk closer to the unknown, even if it means risking pain. To get in touch with different cultures means engendering uncertainty, which in turn makes us feel alive as we balance what we learn from past experiences and what we imagine, hope, or fear about the future.
