The multi-sensorial installation by Firouz Farman Farmaian is composed of ten Shirdaks, the traditional white felt rugs used in Kyrgyz yurts. On the rugs, Farmaian drew the flags of ancient Turanian communities, who once lived nomadically around Central Asia. The artist asked for the help of Kyrgyz crafts-women, who know how to shrink and matte wool cloth using heat and water pressure. A large dome adds to the installation a magical, almost sacred atmosphere.
