The intent is made clear in the title, itself quoting the opening verses of a traditional highland chant. The three Filipino artists investigate forms of traditional and contemporary art to show the cultural expression where sign, sound, and cloth converge and find their dimension. The installation is organized in two sections: Speaking in Tongue is a two-channel video art piece that translates traditional songs in a squid ink painting performance; Renderings shows how sound transmission can be obtained with traditional weaving techniques.
