The Austrian exhibit has been entrusted to collective AKT & Hermann Czech, who will visualize the relationship between the Biennale and the City of Venice by trying to convert a section of the Pavilion at Giardini into a public space. Not having received the necessary authorizations, only half of the Austrian Pavilion will be open to visitors of the Biennale, while the area originally intended for citizens will remain closed. Nevertheless, this attempt naturally needed to be run through several offices and the citizenry itself, thus activating a reflection on the issue of authority and power over public space and social movements that architecture determines when it materializes.
