An island once at the centre of the transatlantic slave trade, Grenada focuses its attention on its heritage of forced migration and on the plurality of voices coming from its cultural history. A video screened on recycled sails shows the processes of design and building of traditional wood boat in Grenada and in Venice, while a participative installation invites the public to reflect on climate change by contributing a thought to be written on sail. The title is a reference to Venetians who coexist with high water, and traces a parallel between the two places – two islands that inevitably face the threat of disappearance under rising sea levels.
