From 1992 to 2017, a period of adjustments and dramatic geopolitical upheavals for the entire Balkan region, the Architecture Summer School of the SS. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje operated within the monastery of St. Joakim Osogovski, 10 kilometers from the Bulgarian border. Despite the unfavorable historical context, the School attracted people from various parts of the world, encouraging collaboration among academics and the creation of discussion forums on topics relevant to architecture.
