(2022, France, 97')
The modern tragedy of Romain Gervais, written with Ladj Ly (the director of 2019 Les Misérables, Jury Prize at Cannes). The film zeroes in on the clash between police and young activists in the Parisian banlieue. A few hours after the death of a young man under suspicious circumstances, the life of his three surviving brothers plunges into chaos as their neighbourhood becomes the site of violent revolt.
The son of Greek director Costa-Gravas and French producer and journalist Michèle Ray-Gavras, Romain Gavras began his career as a director with video clips and fashion shows, working with Kanye West, Jay-Z, Justice, M.I.A., and Jamie xx, for whom he directed multi-award-winning Gosh (2016). In 2010, Gavras directed Our Day Will Come, and in 2018 The World is Yours, together with Ladj Ly and Elias Belkaeddar.
