What is photography? The eternal present caused by the complicity of capturer and captured object. This intimacy bursts forth in Schatzberg’s pictures, which are the protagonists in Filmon’s latest documentary. The French filmmaker, who earlier authored docufilm Close Encounters With Vilmos Zsigmond (2016), made an homage to a genius photographer, a “young man aged ninety-five”.
