(1969, Czechoslovakia, 96')
A nocturnal, claustrophobic film set in a Prague house where husband, a government undersecretary, and wife face their fears of being observed by spies. A few years prior, between 1966 and 1967, Czech cinema won two consecutive Oscars with The Shop on Main Street by Ján Kadár and Closely Watched Trains by Jiří Menzel. Kachyna’s film confirms the high quality of the Czechoslovak cinema of the time.
