The end of the Second World War coincides with the commencing of Soviet trials of Nazi officials for their crimes against Ukrainian Jews. The Kiev trial was one of the first of such trials “On the atrocities committed by fascist invaders on the territory of the Ukrainian SSR”, condemning the atrocities committed by the Nazi and decried in the Nuremberg Trials as crimes against humanity.

Sergei Loznitsa

Born in Baranovichi (Soviet Union, now Belarus, in 1964), Sergei Loznitsa’s debut feature film My Joy (2010) was nominated at Cannes and recognized by the Russian critic at the Kinotavr Festival in Sochi, and others. Other film by Loznitsa include In the Fog (2012), Bridges of Sarajevo (2014), and short movies Maidan (2014) and Austerlitz (2016).
