Stranieri Ovunque/Foreigners Everywhere, this is the title of the Art Biennale 2024, presented by President Roberto Cicutto and Adriano Pedrosa, the first curator from Latin America ever to lead the Venice Exhibition. The 60th edition, which will take place from 20 April to 24 November 2024, will present “foreigners, immigrants, expatriates, diasporics, émigrés, exiles and refugees, in particular those who have moved from the South to the North of the world”, giving also a voice to queer, outsider and indigenous artistic expressions. Alongside this Contemporary Nucleus, Pedrosa will introduce a Historical Nucleus made up of 20th-century works from Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Arab world, and a special section dedicated to the diaspora of Italian artists around the world. The two Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement of this Biennale Arte are awarded to the Brazilian (Italian by birth) artist Anna Maria Maiolino and the Turkish (Paris-based) artist Nil Yalter. Both artists will participate in the Biennale Arte for the first time: Maiolino will present a new large-scale work that expands and develops her series of clay sculptures and installations; Yalter will propose a reconfiguration of her innovative installation Exile is a hard job, along with her iconic work Topak Ev, exhibited in the first room of the Central Pavilion at the Giardini.

As every year, our Venezia News guide (TheBAG – Biennale Arte Guide) will accompany visitors starting from the opening days on April 17, 18, and 19, with interviews with the protagonists of this edition, descriptions of each project and each participation, maps of the Gardens, the Arsenal, and Venice, and a section dedicated to the numerous “not only Biennale” exhibitions taking place in Venice during the seven months of the event.
