AKI SASAMOTO

BORN 1980, Kanagawa, Japan
LIVES&WORKS New York, USA

Aki Sasamoto is often a performer within her installations, which she builds using everyday objects that she turns into essential elements of her art in theatres, open spaces, and other venues that may not fit the conventional idea of an exhibition area. These installations ask for the participation of visitors, seeing as how they take inspiration in the surrounding environment. Sasamoto often cooperated with other artists and scholars, especially mathematicians. Fascinated with food, health, hygiene, and order, she thinks of art as rigorous practice and intricate narration.
