Born in a town near the Romanian-Hungarian border, the artist moved to America in 1997. With her work, she investigates the collective memory of Romanian culture and important personal and cultural issues, such as femininity and folklore. Known for her diverse sculptures of widely different sizes, Ursu?a uses a vast array of materials, including cardboard and concrete. She also blends traditional sculpting methods with new technology to turn commonly found objects and material into evocative sculptures and installations.
