Disobedience Archive has been in operation since 2005. It was assembled by Marco Scotini, a critic and curator based in Berlin and is an ongoing collection composed of artists’ documents, ranging from cinema to performance and covering the last forty years of history. A project that makes modularity its essential character: stories and geographies of four decades of social disobedience, from the Italian revolt of 1977 to the global protests before and after Seattle, up to the uprisings in the Middle East and Turkey. A collection which is continually expanding and adapts to each exhibition space in which it is welcomed. Here it is divided into two specially conceived main parts, respectively entitled Diaspora Activism and Gender Disobedience, including works by thirty-nine artists and collectives created between 1975 and 2023.
