The Glasgow-based studio was founded to combat the depopulation of the Scottish Highlands using clear principles, starting with a strong bond with vernacular architecture – in fact, their initial model of inspiration is the blackhouse of north-European tradition – and hence, with territory and its physical features as well as with research to minimize the ecological footprint. The studio also works in urban Scotland on projects whose potential goes beyond the borders of the United Kingdom.
