Art by Elisa Giardina Papa is eminently existential and at the centre of pressing themes of modernity such as gender, sexuality, work, politics. Some of her latest pieces investigate the possibility of evolving borders in the fields of artificial intelligence and automation. Papa is a graduate of the Milan Polytechnic, an engineering school, received her MFA at the Rhode Island School of Design, and her PhD in Film and Media Studies at UC Berkeley. For this Biennale, Giardina Papa presents a special project at Forte Marghera, Mestre.
