Elle Pérez worked mainly with photography by framing her subjects under the logic of authenticity to erase the borders between traditional documentary and portrait. Working in close contact with the LGBTQIA+ community, Pérez visualises the complexity of gender identity: the scars on a chest after surgery, embracing arms in a moment of intimacy, a chest binder worn out and torn apart. These photographs show the traces of queer experiences and reflect nature in its constant evolution of identity.
