GBOLADE DESIGN STUDIO

WHERE London, UK
PEOPLE Tara Gbolade (b. Kaduna, Nigeria, 1985), Lanre Gbolade (b. Ota, Nigeria, 1985)

The studio is founded on a manifesto/ declaration: architecture is responsible for the 40% of toxic emissions, contributing gravely to climate degradation and biodiversity erosion. This is why it undersigned the Architects Declare proclamation and the 2030 RIBA Climate Challenge, distinguishing itself for its holistic attempt to see sustainability as a possible way to decarbonize the planet and involve all components of society and the environment in which people live. The exhibition Breaking Ground: A Regenerative Approach in particular explores the possibility of architecture not being merely an ‘extractive’ activity but a regenerative one that can contribute positively to the well-being of the planet by employing sustainable, socially inclusive ideas and solutions.
