CAROLINE WANJIKU KIHATO, MARELI STOLP, CLARE LOVEDAY

WHERE Johannesburg, South Africa
PEOPLE Caroline Wanjiku Kihato (b. Nairobi, Kenya, 1971); Mareli Stolp (b. Pretoria, South Africa, 1980); Clare Loveday (b. Johannesburg, South Africa, 1967)

In this special project, we will see the work of three women: author Caroline Wanjiku Kihato (an urbanist with a PhD on migrant women in Johannesburg and the way they have shaped the city), famous composer Clare Loveday, and South African musician Mareli Stolp. Collective artwork You will find your people here, a performance for piano and voice (Stolp’s), is a collection of five stories of as many migrant women in Johannesburg. It is a sort of testimony of physical experience and an immersive expression that shows the way migration, especially female migration, ‘builds space’.
