[Biennale College Arte] Hwami lives simultaneously in Zimbabwe where she was born, South Africa where she grew up, the United Kingdom where she currently resides. In his practice, time and space collapse, revealing a deeply personal view of southern Africa. The large works on paper or canvas that the artist creates using collage, in combination with intensely pigmented oil painting, screen printing, pastel or charcoal, raise bold questions about the black body and its representation, as well as about sexuality, gender and spirituality. In 2019 she was the youngest artist to participate in the 58. Biennale Arte in the Zimbabwe Pavilion.
