A pioneer of computer art, Lillian Schwartz has always used digital technology as an essential part of her creative process. The artist studied painting in Japan in the late 1940s and worked with lightboxes, kinetic sculptures, laser printing, and computer animation. Among her sources of inspiration is Leonardo’s art, especially the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper, which is at the centre of computerised experimentations under the sign of language interaction in art media.
