LISE DEHARME

BORN
LIVES&WORKS
1898, Paris, France
1980, Neuilly-sur-Seine, France

An author involved with Surrealism, she is considered an example of how the history of culture and relevant cultural players must be rewritten. Deharme is more than Breton’s lost love: recent, less stereotype-prone studies show her importance in the way she shaped and directed the arts – far from an image of an innocuous, subservient woman.
