An exponent of the Pictures Generation, Lawler’s work has been mostly photographs of arts and artists since the 1960s. She focused particularly on the spaces where the works were exhibited and the methods used to create them. The photographer appropriates images to study their function and their code of representation: film, television, magazines. Important work of hers include paintings hung on museum walls, a private art collection, art galleries, and the visit of a sculpture art show.
